Their lifetime contribution to specific fields of research were also factors that led to getting them on the list, said the institute.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1\">\n<aside id=\"block-39\" class=\"widget_block widget_text clearfix\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center amp-wp-6b9c179\" data-amp-original-style=\"font-size:12px\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<aside id=\"block-40\" class=\"widget_block clearfix\"><\/aside>\n<aside id=\"block-20\" class=\"widget_block widget_text clearfix\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center amp-wp-6b9c179\" data-amp-original-style=\"font-size:12px\">CONTINUE READING BELOW<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><\/figure>\n<p id=\"2\">The IIT-G members featured in the list are from scientific fields, including the departments of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, chemical engineering, biosciences and bioengineering, chemistry, electrical and electronics.<\/p>\n<p id=\"26\">Sitharam said, \u201cThis recognition of several faculty in the world\u2019s top 2&nbsp;per cent of scientists list has placed IIT-Guwahati in the global map of science and has brought great pride to the Institute. I congratulate all the 21 scientists and their hard work and commitment to furthering science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"27\">Scientists are classified into 22 fields and 176 sub-fields. The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2 per cent or above in the sub-field. As many as 195,605 scientists are included in the career-long database and 200,409 scientists are included in the single recent year dataset.
