U.S. News ranked the university No. 43 overall and the No. 1 university in Texas. Among universities in the U.S., UT ranked No. 23.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. News ranked 2,000 higher education institutions in 95 countries in its annual ranking.<\/p>\n<p>The rankings are based on 13 indicators that quantify research performance, global and regional reputations and international collaboration. U.S. News also uses these factors for its global subject rankings. UT Austin earned top-50 rankings in 15 subjects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arts &amp; Humanities \u2013 No. 24<\/li>\n<li>Chemistry \u2013 No. 31<\/li>\n<li>Condensed Matter Physics \u2013 No. 32<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miragenews.com\/us-news-world-reports-best-global-universities-881967\/#\">Education and Educational Research<\/a> \u2013 No. 34<\/li>\n<li>Geosciences \u2013 No. 26<\/li>\n<li>Materials Science \u2013 No. 25<\/li>\n<li>Mathematics \u2013 No. 25<\/li>\n<li>Microbiology \u2013 No. 46 (tie)<\/li>\n<li>Nanoscience &amp; Nanotechnology \u2013 No. 48 (tie)<\/li>\n<li>Physical Chemistry \u2013 No. 47<\/li>\n<li>Physics \u2013 No. 29 (tie)<\/li>\n<li>Psychiatry\/Psychology \u2013 No. 34<\/li>\n<li>Social Sciences and Public Health \u2013 No. 38 (tie)<\/li>\n<li>Space Science \u2013 No. 33<\/li>\n<li>Water Resources \u2013 No. 34<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UT Austin\u2019s excellence has been recognized by other recent rankings by U.S. News. The university placed No. 38 among national public and private universities in the most recent undergraduate rankings. And U.S. News ranked 55 of the university\u2019s graduate programs and specialties among the top 10 in the nation.
