Griffith University has been ranked 66th <\/sup>globally in the inaugural QS Sustainability Ranking 2023 including first in Queensland overall, and 6th<\/sup> in Australia for its efforts in sustainability.<\/p>\n

Griffith received a stellar commendation as the rankings assess efforts to tackle the world\u2019s greatest environmental, social and governance challenges based on two categories: environmental impact and social impact.<\/p>\n

In total, the QS Sustainability Ranking 2023 assessed 700 global institutions, 33 of those in Australia.<\/p>\n

In Australia, Griffith was ranked third for environmental impact, and 12th<\/sup> for social impact.<\/p>\n

Griffith Vice Chancellor and President Professor Carolyn Evans said she was delighted to see the university placed first in Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ranking is testament to Griffith\u2019s commitment to minimising our impact on our surrounding natural environment,\u201d Professor Evans said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSustainability is a core value of Griffith and a key initiative of the Creating a future for all-Strategic Plan 2020-2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a strong commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strive to create a robust, equitable and environmentally sustainable society.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNotably, our researchers are invested in this space publishing sustainability-related papers on quality education, good health and wellbeing, life below water, climate action, and sustainable cities and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sustainability Manager Dr Saffron Benner said Griffith is a values-led university and one that wants to have a real impact in the community, both at a local and national level, but also across the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur researchers are leading the charge when it comes to sustainability research resulting in students wanting to study here and share these values so they\u2019re ready to face the future and make a meaningful difference,\u201d Dr Benner said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the US News 2022-2023 Best Global Universities Rankings<\/a> has placed Griffith as 203rd <\/sup>in the world, 15th<\/sup> in Australia and 16th<\/sup> in Australia\/New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The US News rankings takes into account a university\u2019s performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence including research performance such as citations and publications.<\/p>\n
