Davidson congratulated the University\u2019s staff on the impressive all-round performance.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ady\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4000288052572090\" data-ad-slot=\"9540773243\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>\u201cBoth the Times Higher Education Rankings by Subject and the US News Best Global Universities ranking showcase UOW\u2019s strength across a wide array of academic disciplines, and reflects our commitment to our teaching and research missions,\u201d Professor Davidson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact UOW has performed so commendably across both these rankings, which result from different criteria and methodologies, confirms our reputation as a truly world-class university.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank all of the University\u2019s staff for their contribution to these results, which have been achieved through their hard work and dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>2023 THE World University Rankings by Subject<\/h4>\n<p>In the new edition of the THE World University Rankings by Subject, UOW was ranked in the top 100 globally for law and engineering, with the law program ranked 80<sup>th<\/sup> in the world (up from 83<sup>rd<\/sup> last year) and 7<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In engineering, which includes the disciplines: general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering, UOW ranked 96<sup>th <\/sup>in the world and 7<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ady\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4000288052572090\" data-ad-slot=\"9540773243\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>In three other subject areas UOW ranked in the top 200 globally.<\/p>\n<p>In the physical sciences (mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology, environmental sciences, and earth and marine sciences), the University ranked in the 126-150 band, the same ranking it achieved in the 2022 rankings, and 9<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>UOW also ranked in the 126-150 band for the arts and humanities (art, performing arts, design, languages, literature, linguistics, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology) up from the 151-175 band ranking UOW gained last year, which placed it 8<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In education, which includes the disciplines: education, teacher training, and academic studies in education, UOW ranked in the 151-175 band globally, up from the 176-200 band in the 2022 rankings.<\/p>\n<p>UOW also performed strongly in the subject rankings for life sciences (201-250), business and economics (251-300), psychology (251-300), social sciences (251-300), computer science (301-400) and health sciences (401-500).<\/p>\n<div class=\"ady\"><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4000288052572090\" data-ad-slot=\"9540773243\" data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins><\/div>\n<p>UOW\u2019s rankings rose in four of the 11 subject categories (law, arts and humanities, education and psychology).<\/p>\n<p>The World University Rankings by Subject tables are based on 13 performance indicators grouped into five categories: teaching; research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (innovation).<\/p>\n<p>Close to 1,800 of the world\u2019s leading universities participated in the 2023 THE World University Rankings.<\/p>\n<h4>2022\/2023 US News Best Global Universities<\/h4>\n<p>In the annual US News Best Global Universities ranking, released today, UOW was ranked 186<sup>th<\/sup> in the world and 12<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia (Wednesday, 26 October 2022).<\/p>\n<p>It is UOW\u2019s best result to date in the highly respected ranking system, up from 203.<\/p>\n<p>UOW ranked in the top 50 in the world for six subjects \u2013 physical chemistry (=13), condensed matter physics (18), mechanical engineering (23), nanoscience and nanotechnology (24), materials science (26) and energy and fuels (33) \u2013 and in the top 100 in chemistry (=81) and education and educational research (95).<\/p>\n<p>In a further eight subjects UOW ranked in the top 200 in the world: engineering (113); civil engineering (124); geosciences (168); computer science (=181); electrical and electronic engineering (181); radiology, nuclear medicine and medical imaging (191); social sciences and public health (=193);
