Carol Vorderman enjoys a night out with lookalike daughter Kate King at private members’ club – after brainbox scientist followed in her mother’s footsteps by studying at Cambridge<\/h2>\n

Carol Vorderman<\/a> enjoyed a night out with daughter Kate King on Wednesday, shortly before making her latest guest appearance on ITV<\/a> show This Morning. <\/p>\n

The former Countdown co-host was joined by scientist Kate, 30, while attending a party at private members’ club Home House in London’s Marylebone. <\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram, Cambridge educated Carol, 61, shared a photo of herself and her lookalike daughter as they enjoyed a drink while mingling with guests inside the central London venue. <\/p>\n

The TV personality appeared to making the most of her free time before returning to ITV studios and her recurring role on This Morning, where she’s been offering daily opinions on the current series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!<\/p>\n

Brainbox Kate has followed in her numerically gifted mother’s footsteps by obtaining a Cambridge University degree earlier this year, obtaining a PHD in Nanotechnology – the industrial use of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale. <\/p>\n

Referencing the achievement on Instagram in January, Carol wrote: ”My girl katie.science. Grafter. Brilliant. Scientist. Funny. Stunning. She passed her PHD in nanotechnology @cambridgeuniversity, I couldn’t be prouder of more hungover.<\/p>\n

‘She can now call herself DOCTOR KATIE KING. It’s all she has ever wanted to be since being a little girl.<\/p>\n

‘A Cambridge research scientist and then to become an astronaut….like you do.<\/p>\n

She added: ‘Her thesis was about the delivery of a new cancer drug. The drug is hydrophobic (doesn’t mix with water) and so can be used instead of a chemotherapy technique as it does not mix with blood.’ <\/p>\n

Delighted: Referencing the achievement on Instagram in January, Carol admitted she was bursting with pride for her daughter  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She added: ‘Katie’s research is about how to then deliver it specifically to the tumour. She’s using nanotechnology and in particular gold nano particles.<\/p>\n

The star continued: ‘Hopefully at some point this will help cancer sufferers not have to endure the all encompassing effects of chemotherapy. She is part of a big research team working at @cambridgeuniversity and with Astra Zeneca.<\/p>\n

‘So here’s me as her Mum. So proud. I know all the struggles she’s overcome, and the hard graft she’s put in to become this fine young woman.<\/p>\n

‘I don’t want this feeling to stop. She’s on top of the world…and quite honestly I am too and so is her little brother Cameron. What a lucky mother I am. Single parenting ain’t that bad after all.’ <\/p>\n

Kate is the eldest of Carol’s two children from her 10-year marriage to her second husband, management consultant Patrick King. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
