They have developed a new heat-efficient nanoparticles, improving their previous cancer fighting ability.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>&#8220;So technically using these nanoparticles we heat the cancer tissue from inside not from outside,&#8221; said Oleh Taratula a professor at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kgw.com\/section\/education\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">OSU College of Pharmacy<\/a> and one of the lead scientists on the study.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p><strong>What are nanoparticles?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>Nanoparticles are extremely small, on a near atomic scale, and undetectable to the human eye. But these nanoparticles can do some powerful things.<\/p>\n<p>Magnetic nanoparticles have previously been used to treat cancer by being injected directly into cancerous tissue. When exposed to an alternating magnetic field, the particles heat up and kill cancer cells, or hasten their growth.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p><strong class=\"cms__embed-related-story\">RELATED: <a class=\"cms__embed-related-story__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kgw.com\/article\/news\/education\/sediment-samples-might-show-climate-connection-to-volcanic-activity-and-ocean-health\/283-44b8d36c-a588-4e4e-a33a-fd5ba6ee3eea\">OSU study finds potential connection between climate, volcanic activity and ocean health<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>The new particle developed by nanoscientists at OSU is potentially and capable of being introduced intravenously into the human body. From there, they find the cancer and attack it.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>So far they&#8217;ve found success in laboratory trials on mice with ovarian cancer. Their work showed the particles found the hard-to-reach cancer cells.
