\nHanoi (VNA) \u2013<\/strong> A delegation of the
\nVietnamese National Assembly<\/strong><\/a> led by its Vice Chairman Senior Lieutenant General Tran
\nQuang Phuong is paying a working visit to Iran from December 2-6.<\/p>\n

The delegation held talks with Iran’s First Deputy
\nParliament Speaker Ali Nikzad, who affirmed that Iran has attached importance to fostering relations with countries in Asia, especially nations in Southeast
\nAsia, including Vietnam.<\/p>\n

He briefed the guests on achievements Iran has
\nrecorded in health care, science-technology and infrastructure construction,
\nand suggested the two countries activate a trade remedy mechanism, hoping for support from the two governments.<\/p>\n

For his part, Phuong highlighted the Vietnam-Iran friendship,
\ncooperation and mutual support in their causes of national defence,
\nconstruction and development, as well as their similarities despite
\ngeographical distance.<\/p>\n

Vietnam and its legislature always treasure the relationship with Iran, and wish it to grow stronger in all government,
\nparliament and people-to-people exchange channels, he said.<\/p>\n

The two sides agreed to coordinate in organising
\nactivities celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties, step up the exchange of delegations and people-to-people diplomacy,
\nand boost twinned relations between localities.<\/p>\n

Phuong said the two countries should facilitate the
\npenetration of their goods into respective markets, organise trade promotion
\nactivities and business forums, and strengthen collaboration in
\ntelecommunications, IT, digital transformation and other areas where  Iran has strengths like nanotechnology, satellite research and space orbit, along with
\nculture, education, tourism and sports.<\/p>\n

Regarding Iran’s nuclear issue<\/strong><\/a>, the legislator noted
\nhis support for the disarmament of weapons of mass destruction, including
\nnuclear weapons, and respect for rights of countries to use nuclear energy for
\npeaceful purposes, in line with obligations prescribed in the Treaty on the
\nNon-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. He also lauded efforts by relevant sides in addressing
\nthe Iran nuclear issue through dialogues and negotiations.<\/p>\n

For the bilateral legislative ties, Phuong suggested
\nthe two sides increase the exchange of all-level delegations, carry forward the role
\nof the two countries\u2019 friendship parliamentarians groups, and improve their people’s understanding
\nabout the friendship and cooperation.<\/p>\n

The two legislatures should continue their close
\ncoordination at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union
\n(IPU), he added.<\/p>\n

Phuong conveyed NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue\u2019s
\ninvitation to the Iran<\/strong><\/a>ian Parliament’s Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to pay an
\nofficial visit to Vietnam in 2023 when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the delegation met with the staff of the
\nVietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Iran.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Within the framework of the visit, Do Duc Hong Ha,
\nVice Chairman of the NA Committee for Judicial Affairs and Chairman of the
\nVietnam-Iran Friendship Parliamentarians Group, met with Rahimi Jahan Abadin, Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group.<\/p>\n

During their conservation, the second this year following
\nthe online talks in May, the two sides consented to work harder to promote mutual
