{"id":35746,"date":"2023-01-17T04:12:25","date_gmt":"2023-01-17T05:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/?p=35746"},"modified":"2023-01-17T05:39:59","modified_gmt":"2023-01-17T05:39:59","slug":"bilateral-science-funding-aims-to-invest-in-priorities-like-ai-and-machine-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/2023\/01\/17\/bilateral-science-funding-aims-to-invest-in-priorities-like-ai-and-machine-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Bilateral science funding aims to invest in priorities like AI and machine learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Ed-Husic.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Research collaborators can now apply for $6 million grants under the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF).<\/p>\n<p>Australia\u2019s Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) has teamed up with India\u2019s Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Biotechnology to run round 15 of the grants program.<\/p>\n<p>Successful grants ranging between $500,000 and $1 million will be awarded for research in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themandarin.com.au\/204670-science-refresh-puts-australias-evidence-based-policy-back-on-the-agenda\/\">identified priority area<\/a> that mutually benefits Australia and India.<\/p>\n<p>The projects will span <a href=\"https:\/\/www.themandarin.com.au\/202596-word-from-an-expert-on-how-to-land-evidence-based-advice-on-ministers\/\">artificial intelligence<\/a> (AI) and machine learning, new and renewable energy technologies (with a preference for ultra-low-cost solar and clean hydrogen), urban mining and electronic waste recycling, as well as antimicrobial resistance, and RNA vaccines and therapies.<\/p>\n<p>Industry and science minister Ed Husic issued a statement describing international collaboration as the \u2018cornerstone of science and excellence\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrevious projects have made important progress in agriculture, biomedical devices and implants, renewable energy, nanotechnology and vaccines,\u201d Husic said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScience and commercialisation are essential to the productivity and economic growth of both countries, and we will continue to achieve great things by working together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 360 projects, fellowships and workshops have been supported by the fund since it was launched in 2006.
