{"id":44530,"date":"2023-03-15T15:31:46","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T16:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/?p=44530"},"modified":"2023-03-15T16:41:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-15T16:41:08","slug":"the-bourne-conspiracy-how-a-minnesotans-email-became-key-evidence-in-fox-news-dominion-voting-systems-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/2023\/03\/15\/the-bourne-conspiracy-how-a-minnesotans-email-became-key-evidence-in-fox-news-dominion-voting-systems-lawsuit\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bourne conspiracy: How a Minnesotan\u2019s email became key evidence in Fox News-Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 Marlene Bourne, an artist who lives in the Twin Cities area, may be the alleged source of the voter-fraud claims that resulted in a $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems.<\/p>\n<p>All Bourne did was write a lengthy email to Sidney Powell, a former federal prosecutor and conspiracy theorist who attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election. She also copied Fox News host Lou Dobbs and conservative activist Tom Fitton on her email.<\/p>\n<p>Sent just hours after Fox and other news outlets called the election for Joe Biden on Nov. 7, 2021, &nbsp;Bourne\u2019s email said \u201ca piece of software\u201d was inserted into Dominion voting machines in several states that would automatically change 3% of the votes for Donald Trump to Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The switched votes were capped at 3% \u201cbecause it was determined that anything higher than that would raise suspicions,\u201d Bourne wrote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"acm-ad-container acm-ad-container-bordered\">\n<div class=\"a-text-around-ad a-text-before-ad\">\n<p>Article continues after advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>She also \u2013 erroneously \u2013 reported links to \u201cCongress critters\u201d including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi\u2019s longtime chief of staff, had to Dominion Voting Systems.<\/p>\n<p>Bourne told MinnPost in an interview that the idea of voter fraud \u201cwas a spur of the moment thing\u201d because she \u201cwasn\u2019t really paying attention to the election.\u201d She said she had never heard of the voting systems company before, but heard the name \u201cDominion\u201d somewhere that day and began to research the company, relying on her intuition and what she called a \u201csixth sense\u201d that she says enables her to \u201cconnect the dots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am able to connect things that don\u2019t seem to connect,\u201d she said. \u201cI have this unique vision. I see things that other people don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bourne said she used her \u201chighly attuned awareness\u201d and ability to \u201cfind a common thread\u201d to investigate Dominion Voting Systems.<\/p>\n<p>One of her first discoveries, that Dominion was a Canadian company, energized her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsn\u2019t that, in itself, foreign interference?\u201d Bourne asked. Dominion has a U.S. headquarters in Denver, Colo., as well as a headquarters in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Bourne said it took her about an hour to piece together her information about Dominion and 10 minutes to write her lengthy email.<\/p>\n<p>That email, first publicized by the Daily Beast, made other outlandish claims, such as an unfounded theory that the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was murdered while being hunted for sport. Scalia died in his sleep. She also told Powell and the others copied that she was \u201cinternally decapitated\u201d in a 1992 car accident and was shot in the back after submitting a tip to FBI.<\/p>\n<p>Bourne told MinnPost she is apolitical.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2112790\" class=\"m-content-media wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazy-fallback=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2112790\" src=\"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/BourneEmailExcerptB740.png\" alt=\"Another excerpt from Marlene Bourne\u2019s email to former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, conservative activist Tom Fitton and Fox News host Lou Dobbs.\" width=\"740\" height=\"424\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"m-content-caption wp-caption-text\">\n<p>Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Another excerpt from Marlene Bourne\u2019s email to former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, conservative activist Tom Fitton and Fox News host Lou Dobbs.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t vote and am completely bipartisan in that I dislike both parties,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Concerned about the ability to spy on people through technology, Bourne said she got rid of her cell phone several years ago and only uses a landline.<\/p>\n<p>She said she \u201cthinks differently from other people,\u201d and admits \u201cher life is a little strange.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018Pretty Wackadoodle\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bourne\u2019s email came to light in court filings that include hundreds of pages of testimony, private text messages and emails from top Fox News journalists and executives that have been made public in the defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion in Delaware\u2019s Superior Court.<\/p>\n<p>Those documents show that Fox was in crisis after the election, having alienated core viewers by being the first on election night to call Arizona for Biden. Dominion says they show that Fox News hosts were more interested in appeasing those viewers than accurately reporting the 2020 election wasn\u2019t stolen \u2013 even if they themselves did not believe there was voter fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Dominion claims Fox News personalities and guests amplified claims that the company rigged the 2020 election, even though many at the network knew the allegations were false.<\/p>\n<p>Documents made public in the lawsuit show that less than an hour after receiving it, Powell forwarded Bourne\u2019s email to Maria Bartiromo, and the Fox News host allowed Powell to air claims of a vote-switching Dominion \u201calgorithm\u201d in an interview the next day.<\/p>\n<p>Dominion\u2019s lawsuit against Fox asks: \u201cWhat was the evidence for these far-fetched claims that Powell sent to Bartiromo the day before the broadcast? An email entitled Election Fraud Info Powell had received from a \u2018source,\u2019 which the author herself describes as \u2018pretty wackadoodle.\u2019 This email, also received by Dobbs, alleged Dominion was the one common thread in the voting irregularities in a number of states.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"acm-ad-container acm-ad-container-bordered\">\n<div class=\"a-text-around-ad a-text-before-ad\">\n<p>Article continues after advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Dominion\u2019s lawsuit says Bartiromo and Dobbs never disclosed the existence of Bourne\u2019s email.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for Fox News told MinnPost in a statement neither Bartiromo, nor her producer, used Bourne\u2019s email in their coverage. She said that during her deposition, \u201cBartiromo testified repeatedly that she did not know who the writer was and didn\u2019t remember seeing the email beyond forwarding it to her producer to check out.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2112792\" class=\"m-content-media wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazy-fallback=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2112792\" src=\"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/BourneEmailC740.png\" alt=\"Another excerpt from Marlene Bourne\u2019s email to former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, conservative activist Tom Fitton and Fox News host Lou Dobbs.\" width=\"740\" height=\"120\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"m-content-caption wp-caption-text\">\n<p>Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Another excerpt from Marlene Bourne\u2019s email to former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell, conservative activist Tom Fitton and Fox News host Lou Dobbs.<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Fox News spokeswoman conceded, however, that Bartiromo\u2019s show gave Powell the opportunity to advance Bourne\u2019s theories.<\/p>\n<p>To Fox News, the defamation suit is an attack on 1<sup>st<\/sup> Amendment rights.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement, the network said its court filings show \u201cDominion has been caught red handed using more distortions and misinformation in their PR campaign to smear FOX News and trample on free speech and freedom of the press.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But to Dominion, Fox\u2019s willingness to allow the propagation of uncorroborated information like Bourne\u2019s shows malice.<\/p>\n<p>Bourne told MinnPost she sent Powell the email&nbsp;about Dominion because the lawyer-activist \u201cwas the face\u201d of the voter fraud movement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I thought, let\u2019s give her some information and let that be a starting point,\u201d Bourne said. She also said she was surprised Powell did not do anything to advance the so-called findings in that sole email and has had no contact with any of those she reached out to with her allegations about Dominion.<\/p>\n<div class=\"acm-ad-container acm-ad-container-bordered\">\n<div class=\"a-text-around-ad a-text-before-ad\">\n<p>Article continues after advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t go further,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s unfortunate for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bourne said it was her civic duty to send the email that appears central to Fox\u2019s voter fraud campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s sort of like what the Department of Homeland Security says, \u2018if you see something, say something,\u2019\u201d Bourne said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2112793\" class=\"m-content-media wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-lazy-fallback=\"1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2112793\" src=\"https:\/\/peymantaeidi.net\/stem-cell\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/MarleneBourne225.jpg\" alt=\"Marlene Bourne\" width=\"225\" height=\"283\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption class=\"m-content-caption wp-caption-text\">\n<p>Marlene Bourne<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Raised in Fridley, Bourne, 58, said she soon realized, \u201cI was different from the people I grew up with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to see the world. I saw there was more to life than just Minnesota,\u201d she said. \u201cMy life is just one adventure after another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bourne said she traveled extensively as a \u201ctechnology analyst,\u201d lived in Arizona for about 10 years and wrote two self-published books on nanotechnology; one for children. She said she stopped working as a nanotechnology consultant after the internet allowed others to do the type of research she was skilled at.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy position was declining,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Now, back in Minnesota, she creates art that evokes what she said were very happy years in Arizona, making cactuses and other desert-themed pieces out of folded paper, Swarovski crystals, glitter and other materials.<\/p>\n<p>She said she is no stranger to celebrity, claiming to have been a consultant for some of the world\u2019s top CEOs, including Tim Cook of Apple.
