What is the premise of Three-Body?
The story centers on Ye Wenjie, a Chinese physicist who experienced political oppression for standing by her dad during the Cultural Revolution. He is given what at first glance seems to be a hopeless task: using radio waves to take out foreign spy satellites.
Nevertheless, Ye plunges herself into the task after discovering from one of the operation’s leaders to destroy satellites that the project’s true objective is to communicate extraterrestrial life. Years later, Ye receives a notification from an extraterrestrial from the planet Tri Solaris detailing the turmoil and misery of its civilization.

Depressed and thinking there is no hope for a world full of corruption, deception, and persecution, Ye reads the message. The alien urges Ye not to reply because doing so will trigger the Trisolarian invasion of Earth. Ye replies, fearing that humanity would never be able to resolve its issues, expecting the Tri solarian would invade Earth and change it for the better.
However, Ye quickly learns that it will be 460 before the first Tri solarians show up after transmitting the messages. As soon as the Tri solarians’ approach becomes known, factions on Earth begin to emerge in favor of and against their presence.

Who will star in episode 18 of Three-Body?
The Tencent series features several well-known actors, including Ji Chen in the role of Ye Wenjie, Xiaoran Li in the role of Sheng Yufei, Hewei Yu as Shi Qiang Kenan Heppe in the role of Mike Evans, and Luyi Zhang in the role of Wang Miao. It was adapted by Liangliang Tian and helmed by Lei Yang (who also directed Legend of Naga Pearls and the respected director Zhong ji bi ji).

According to Wang Juan, senior editor of Tencent’s online streaming business section, “‘The Three-Body Problem’ is so dear to us, and the production of its TV adaptation took far longer than that of most plays from Tencent,” a film produced by Tencent Video quoted Wang Juan as saying.

Han Zhijie, vice chairman of Tencent’s internet video business unit, said, “We hope we can produce a work deserving of this novel.” The sequences in “Three-Body” covered a variety of time periods, from the 1960s through the 1970s to 2007, as per executives from Tencent, he added.
According to a different source, the production staff recorded inside research facilities, such as the National Center for Sciences and Nanotechnology, to faithfully recreate important sequences from the novel.
