Iranian President Denounces Domination, Unilateralism as Root Cause of Global Crisis

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi on Thursday condemned the world powers’ unilateral policies as well as domination as the major cause of insecurity and instability across the world.

President Rayeesi made the remarks during a meeting with foreign ambassadors residing in Tehran on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

Referring to the last year’s developments across the world, Iran’s president said the developments showed that the world was in need of dialogue and mutual understanding.

He described the arrogant powers’ unilateralism and domination along with their double standard about human rights issues as the factors escalating tensions throughout the region and the globe.

“In an all-around hybrid war, they did their utmost to misrepresent the women’s status in Iran and tarnish the reputation of the county in the world by their campaigns failed,” Rayeesi noted, referring to the foreign-backed unrest in Iran.

Speaking on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or 2015 nuclear deal, and the Western nations’ failure to honour their obligations endorsed in the internationally signed agreement, Rayeesi criticized their non-constructive behaviors that originated from their “illusion” and “wrong calculation”.

“Iran seeks dialogue with other countries based on mutual interest, putting the expansion of relations with its neighbors and other Asian countries on the agenda for neutralizing the West’s sanctions,” he added.

The president lauded the country’s achievements in different fields, including academic science, health care, biotechnology, nanotechnology, military, aerospace, etc., and stressed that Iran was ready to share its knowledge and experience for the promotion of peace and prosperity in the world.

Iranian officials have underlined that the US has been defeated in the maximum pressure policy against Tehran, underscoring that sanctions have all failed to hamper the progress of the country.

Protests erupted in several cities across Iran over the death of Mahsa Amini who fainted at a police station in mid-September and days later was pronounced dead at a hospital. The demonstrations soon turned violent.

Iranian officials blame Western countries for orchestrating the riots to destabilize the country.

The unrest has claimed the lives of dozens of people and security forces, while also allowing acts of terror and sabotage across the country. Iran’s Interior Ministry has confirmed the enemy waged a hybrid war against the country to weaken national solidarity and hinder the country’s progress, stressing that some 200 people lost their lives in the riots sparked by separatist and terrorist groups.

The US, the UK and the European Union (EU) have imposed a slew of sanctions against Iranian individuals and legal entities since the September death in police custody of an Iranian woman. Iran has returned the adversarial measures and meddlesome statements with sanctions against European, American and British officials and institutions.
