Republic of Work Examines How DeepTech Can Lead to a Carbon-Neutral Future

Republic of Work has launched details of the second edition of DeeptechFest Ireland, a one-day event that explores the profound impact of Deeptech on climate tech advancement and sustainability initiatives across Europe. The event will take place on March 7th, 2024, at the co-working space on South Mall in Cork City.

DeeptechFest Ireland 2024 will bring together a group of industry experts, investors, policymakers, and innovators to examine the latest advancements and address critical challenges in sectors ranging from agriculture to healthcare. The goal of the event is to explore the profound impact of Deeptech on climate tech advancement and sustainability initiatives across Europe. Some of the speakers include Angie Nagle of BladeBridge, Mary O’Riordan of HaPPE Earth and Mike Keane of Hibra Design.

Deeptech represents a new wave of rapidly evolving and converging technologies that are set to redefine innovation. Encompassing a range of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), synthetic biology, nanotechnologies, and quantum computing, these technologies can help to solve some of the biggest current global challenges. Spin-outs, startups, and research and education institutions play an integral role in the Deeptech ecosystem.

DeeptechFest 2024 follows a successful inaugural event last year. Attendees this year can expect insightful panel discussions and fireside chats on how Deeptech is driving advancements in climate tech and energy transformation. There will also be a number of networking coffee breaks throughout the day.

Topics on the day will include:

—  Sustainable Manufacturing

—  Role of Deeptech in Enhancing Europe’s Sustainability Goals

—  Future of Sustainability

—  Advancements in Climate Tech Driven by Deeptech

—  Energy Transformation

—  Deeptech Investment Landscape

Programme Manager at the Republic of Work, Eshna Gogia, said, “People are increasingly searching for terms like renewable energy solutions, zero-waste strategies and circular economy, indicating a growing interest in sustainability among both businesses and consumers. However, the crucial question is how we can truly make our future carbon neutral and move beyond sustainability being just a buzzword to making a tangible impact through our actions. And we hope to find some of those answers at DeeptechFest Ireland.”

She added, “It’s things like how do we turn waste into opportunities, whether it’s food waste or industrial waste, how do we close the loop? Another interesting area we will dive into is sustainable manufacturing – technologies like 3D printing and advanced materials are paving the way for eco-friendly production processes. Companies are exploring ways to minimise waste, optimise resource usage, and implement circular design principles to create products that are not only durable but also recyclable or Biodegradable.”

SOSV is one of Republic of Work’s aligned ecosystem partners and will present the keynote talk at the event. They will shed light on the transformative role of deeptech in revolutionising the Future of Sustainability as well as exploring its impact on climate tech advancements.

DeeptechFest Ireland is a paid event; coffee and lunch will be provided on the day. For more information or to book a place, tickets are available here.
